Hong Kong #5

Dug up these 2 photos from my computer.

Days leading up to Christmas, the malls are completely packed. We love the buzz and managed to do some shopping.

I miss Hong Kong. If only we can spend Lunar New Year there. :)

Hong Kong #4

Here I am at Kowloon Station, wondering if I should make a trip to the speciality store in Sogo at Causeway Bay after visiting the boutique at Elements!

In the end, I got ...

A mug for the new work place. :)

A bon shopper which can only be bought in HK! So worth the money! Actually J's money. Hee hee...

Hong Kong #3

I have always known that the HK kate spade outlet does not sell its stuff cheap but still I cannot resist making a trip there each time.

For over an hour, I debated over a pair of shoes which fit but felt a little snug. In the end, I left with these items.

Journal flat pouch. This is from the earlier batch which means it's an old stock. But I like the red zip pull over the new one which is a short black ribbon of sort.

Bet you can't tell what this is.

Unzip it and you'll find a grocery bag! 环保袋!

Now I feel so glam doing grocery shopping! Plus no more plastic bags so I'm doing my part saving Planet Earth. :)

Hong Kong #2

Eight years of travelling together, this is the first time we left with two pieces of luggage and came back with three!

J was rather indulgent this time and let me buy everything I fancied. With my new job, it's unlike that I can drop my work in an instant and accompany him on his work trips. This means us travelling together less next year. Which makes me sad! Hence his indulgence in a bid to cheer me up.

This is me very very anxious because for a long time all we got was J's bag. The loots were in the other two bags of mine!

My agnes b. bag charm did not survive this trip. One of the blings fell off somewhere in HK. Because I do not even know where I dropped it, I can't glue it back. Sadly this means early retirement for this bling bling. It is my favourite and always will be.

Hong Kong #1

Like many, we love the eating bit in HK. There's so much good food, I hardly take pictures of them anymore. Besides, a quick search on the Internet will lead you to a zillion blog posts about what and where to eat in HK.

What I did take a picture of is this dessert shop. I think it's called Hang Fa Lau. We were told it's pretty good. There is one just 10 metres away from our hotel. J and I love 甜汤 (dessert/sweet soup) and really nothing beats a hot bowl of sweet soup on a winter's day!

Double boiled papaya with white fungus is my favourite. I must have a bowl of this every day every time I am in HK. I know I can do it myself but I'm lazy and it's available every where in HK. So easy!

Usually at the dessert stores, you can also find fried radish cake. (萝卜糕) J swears the ones in HK are better. I think he's just biased. :)

Look at those glass bottles! For the sake of drinking out of a glass bottle, I ordered soft drinks with my wanton mee. So ancient and so nostalgic! I don't even know where we can find these in Singapore.

I eat these small sweet cakes for remembrance sake! We love walking from Tsim Sha Tsui to our hotel late at night. On the way, we will stop by this stall and grab some 鸡蛋仔. Because we did it the first time we went to HK, we have been doing so every trip.

Miniature egg tarts (蛋挞仔) are another of my favourite. I love everything to do with eggs! These are from our favourite dim sum place, Dragon Dynasty (龙朝) in JD Mall.

Maxim's Cakes came up with Angry Birds muffins this Christmas season. Hilarious I thought! The icing isn't great but the chocolate chip muffin is! Yummy.

Blessed Christmas to one and all!

Love and peace be with you. :)

Bag #2

is the 34th Street Treesh in Bone. :)

Oh yes, it is another bag which was sold here and on the kate spade website many moons ago!

Previously when everyone was carrying it, the colours did not impress me. The fire-engine red and snapdragon pink were pretty but not exactly my kinda colours. I did not want to get another bag in peacock blue since I have the Frosted Felt Magazine Tote. Someone told me the black was very classy but at the store when I carried it on the crook of my arm, I looked like I had stolen my grandma's bag!

Then in HK, I spotted the bag in this colour! Call it cream, off-white, bone, whatever! It cannot be new and was probably on the kate spade website but why didn't I see it before??

Even J thinks the bag is quite pretty. :)

How colourful, how whimsical the tutti frutti dot lining!

Crinkled patent! And I love the noel rivets.

Bag #1

So what exactly did I buy in Hong Kong?

I got the Frosted Felt Quinn. Oh yes, I bought the little sister of my giant ass Frosted Felt Magazine Tote!

I love my Magazine Tote for its colours. I love it that it's so roomy. For the 2 months that I carried it, I received a lot of compliments for it. Then sometime before I left for Hong Kong, I saw someone carrying a black Quinn and loved the look of it! I realised it was not tiny like I had thought. And there lies my problem because nowhere in Singapore can I buy one since it is an item from the Spring season. Or was it even winter?? Okay, it was that far back!

But in HK, I found the grey version! kate spade calls this colour 'heather'. Whatever.

I was jolly pleased! Heather is not exactly black but since I don't have a grey or silver bag this suits me fine.

Look at the shiny straps! Don't they scream 'Glam'?! How come the bag did not look so pretty when I saw it online previously?

I do have one complaint though. The shiny base of this bag is extremely rough and on the first day I carried it in HK, it scratched against my shorts and ruined a part of it! Now I know better than to wear delicate fabric with the Frosted Felt Quinn.

kate spade in Hong Kong

I told J there are 6 kate spade stores in Hong Kong; he thought I wanted to visit them all!

I was sure I wanted to visit the one at the Citygate Outlets at Tung Chung and one other retail store in any of the malls. In the end, we went to more than 2. :)

This is the one at Harbour City, Ocean Centre. It is in Tsim Sha Tsui, about 30min walk from our hotel. We were at Harbour City running an errand for a friend and I decided to drop by for a quick look.

The outlet store at Citygate sells different things from the other retail stores but the products are not really that cheap. Here you can also find some items from the last season.

The third store we went to is in SOGO, Causeway Bay. It is a speciality shop, similar to the one we have in Takashimaya. This visit was completely by chance. We were in the area and decided to go inside SOGO to enjoy some air conditioning because the weather was so hot! That was when we discovered that SOGO was having a massive sale. Everything in kate spade was on sale. 30%! 40%! 50% discount! I have to confess I went a little mad here that day. Hehe!

The last store we went to is in Elements, Kowloon. We were on our way to the airport and the shopping mall is where the Airport Express station is. I took less than 2 minutes to tour this store. All the retail stores sell the same stuff. Much as I like kate spade, I really did not wish to look at the same items over and again in 4 days.

And this makes 4

J bought me this iPhone cover in Hong Kong. I know I know, I already have 2 other hardshell cases and 1 silicone one from kate spade but how can I say no to this? Tis so pretty!

The unique bit about it is that the tiny spade emblem appears on the side/rim of the cover and not on the back like the others. :)

Cute, isn't it? :)

I'm thinking I should stop at 4. After all these cases will probably not fit an iPhone 5 or 6. :P

Nalgene

It has been quite a while since I carried a water bottle with me because the bottles don't fit into my kate spades. Actually I don't know why I need to carry a water bottle everywhere I go. It's just a habit formed over the 10 years I was teaching.

Now that I have my big ass Felt Tote, I realised I can throw in my Nalgene again!

Here's my new 1-litre purple Nalgene which I paid SGD9 for in Hong Kong last December. Seriously, it only cost me NINE dollars! Where to find in Singapore??

I love that it is so HUGE! And though you cannot tell from the picture, it really is a lovely purple. More like violet actually.

We spent New Year's Day

with this
and this!
In my attempt to get J to watch The Big Bang Theory, I bought 3 seasons of DVDs for us. It's hilarious I tell you, you've got to watch it!
The complete season 3 cost HKD239 which was less than SGD40. I thought that was a steal! :)
We spent the whole weekend watching all episodes from 3 seasons and by the time we were done, it felt like Sheldon Cooper actually exists.
And of course there's nothing like having some wine to ring in the new year. Rosemount O was recommended by Petals and we got Beckham to get us a bottle when he was at the airport. What can I say? It's not too shabby I guess but I'm not sure if it's worth the trouble to get another bottle in the future since it is only sold at the airport.

Anyway, here's wishing you and me a blessed new year! :)
