What did you have for lunch?

This was my lunch.

Yes I know there are so many cheaper and better alternatives but
1. this does not require any cooking,
2. I'd like to believe it contains some nutrients,
3. there was nothing else at home to eat.

Lazy ass is me.

Duty

I watched this many years ago. For some reason this morning I thought of it again and searched for it online.

Sometimes it's just a word, sometimes it's a song, today I need this to remember Jesus loves me and I will do as He tells me to. Often I feel like it's too much to bear. Often I forget that things will turn out all right in the end.

Weather report at 10:30

I don't know what defines a crazy Monday morning better than this volatile weather.

This photo was taken about 20 minutes after the one in the previous post. See how the sunshine's gone??

Bizarre!

Bonkers

6:30, rainy
7:30, sunny
8:30, rainy
9:30, sunny
The weather is completely erratic!

The pool deck is still wet from the bi-hourly showers. I suspect the blazing sun hasn't much time to dry it. Because right now, it's approaching 10:30, I can hear thunder rumbling in the distance and the sky is starting to look overcast again!

Tis so fun living on this part of the island. :)

A new shop

sprung up in Millenia Walk.

Woods in the Books has opened another branch. I think the main store is on Club Street. Lots of children books. If you love picture books, this is the place to go.

Everything in the shop is pretty. Some of the display pieces (read: retro) are the owners' private collection and not for sale.

Teddy sits in the corner of the shop people watching. :)

Limited Edition City Spade Tote

Looks like the bon shopper to me but on the ks Korean website, they call this the City Spade Tote Small Coal. One side says New York, the other shows the name of the country/city that it is sold in. I was terribly tempted to get it till I saw the price tag. SGD350 before discount. Nope.

A very quiet opening

Starbucks finally opens a branch on university grounds and all there was to it was this tiny tiny sign! Where is the big green signature mermaid signage so familiar to us?? Anyway, on the very first week of its opening, this sign did not survive a sudden downpour and strong winds and was seen flat on the ground, miserably soaked through with rain water.

Someone at work told me that he bought a latte for $4.95 after given a staff discount but it's unlikely he will do so again. Coffee-flavoured milk was how he described his latte. That plus the fact that McDonalds which is 50 metres away sells coffee for $1.65 and cappuccino for $3.30. Its neighbour, Subway, sells a potent cup of coffee for $2.00. Best of all, a marvellous cup of flat white (take-away) from the cafe in our very own library goes for $2.20.

I suspect only the students will patronise Starbucks, the staff members will stick to their cheaper and better alternatives.

Siew Mai!

My favourite siew mai (烧卖) comes from Teck Kee Pau. I love pau but don't find the ones at Teck Kee Pau very special. Their siew mai however is a different story!

I don't have a picture of it here because by the time I thought about blogging it, I had already eaten all the siew mai! Easily I can wolf down 6 at one go. And mind you, they are not the tiny ones you get from the supermarket frozen foods department.

What I love about it? Pork, every bite, every mouthful is full of that rich pork flavour. It reminds me of Sunday dim sum breakfast before dawn with my brother and dad in Chinatown when I was a kid. :)

Teck Kee Pau can be found at Suntec City and Centrepoint and other places but I'm too lazy to type it here. ;)

Selling my kate spade wallet with great reluctance

I have decided to sell the Mercer Street Shannon which I bought for myself. :( For a while I tried to convince myself that I will eventually use it. But seriously, it's too big for me.

I posted a thread online here. If you are keen to get it as a present or know someone who may like it, please email me. Wallet is brand new with tag, care card and comes with a box.

I really don't want to waste a good leather wallet like that. It still smells heavenly of leather!

More pictures here.

Counting pennies

After breakfast this morning, J insisted that we go to the bank and sign up for 2 separate saving accounts. J is big on this idea of saving. In that sense he reminds me a lot of my dad. They say that the man we marry usually shares some resemblance to our father. I wonder if there is some truth in that.

I also wonder if this sudden sense of urgency from J came about because of my huge purchases recently (read: impulsive kate spade buys). We have talked about saving up for me to further my studies but for a long time it was all talk on my part. Today, I finally took a step towards that direction. Maybe just maybe this signifies a greater readiness to embark on that arduous journey?

As if it were my birthday!

Saturday was J's birthday and I left home with the sole purpose of getting him a birthday present. But of course I got a little distracted and had to walk into a kate spade store.

And walked out with this giant orange bag.

Essex Scout, Tudor City Lacey, Buckle Up Stretch Bracelet and a kate spade membership. I hope the last is for a lifetime!

And clearly whatever self-control I thought I had was all my imagination. :P

By the way, HAPPY BIRTHDAY J! :)
I'm sure you love the pen I bought you. Hee...

On my list

So I almost bought the Bixby Bag when it went on sale recently.
I love the aqua version and how retro it looks. But Kitty who agrees that it's a pretty bag told me to save some money for the next season. She is right of course, there will always be another bag. And I'm glad I listened! Because now, I want this!

Gold Coast Charlize
Love at first sight! This is a must! I love the colour! Just hope it looks this good in real when I see it in the local stores. Fingers crossed.

Graffiti Spade iPhone Case
I like this clean look! If it's available, I might just buy it. Not that I need another iPhone cover. I already have 6! Maybe I should sell my brand new Matchbox case to make way for this. Hmm... worth a thought.

Live Colorfully Coin Purse
This is just cute. Hehe. I'm not a coin purse person really. But look at the spade zip pull!

iPad iSad

My facebook wall is flooded with posts and comments on Steve Jobs' passing. The last time this happened was when Michael Jackson died. The power influence America has, you have to acknowledge it is great.

This is the work of Jonathan Mak Long (dated August 26, 2011) http://jmak.tumblr.com/post/9377189056
I quite like it. Kinda subtle, kinda says it all.

What's your first Apple product? I have to admit I'm not a Mac fan and mine is the iPod Nano. 2 iPods and 1 iPhone, Apple probably doesn't like me very much.

And here is Steve Jobs' Stanford Commencement 2005 speech. I bet you, me and millions of people have already watched it since the news of his death hit the Internet hours ago.

Three Little Kittens

So after that post on kate spade mittens, I went to a bookshop to look for the Three Little Kittens.

The pictures are lovely but the story makes no sense to me. The kittens lose their mittens and they cry. The next page tells you that they find their mittens and again they cry! J tells me this creates the opportunity to explain to children that sometimes we cry because we are sad but at other times we cry out of joy. Rubbish! I think the author was simply lazy and used 'cry' repeatedly because it rhymes with 'pie'. Oh yes, mommy cat gave the kittens pie (I think when they found their mittens). Pfft.

Under control

I'd like to think I am exercising some self-control when it comes to my kate spade buying. Perhaps this is proof?

This is the only item I bought in September.

Can you say SUPERCALIFRAGILIPSTICK?
