Another photo from Petals

This is a kate spade store in Bangkok.

I'm itching dying to buy something new from kate spade but haven't seen anything I like recently. When I told my good friend, Donna, about it this morning, her eyes went wide with utter disbelief. I know, I know, I bought so many pieces in a short span recently, it's almost as if I have not exercised any discretion. But believe it or not, I do think long and hard before purchasing each bag or wallet. :)

Look who carries the same bag!

Carrie carries the same kate spade tote. ;)

God loves Muffin!

My darling godson was baptised yesterday!

Dear Father, we thank you for giving us Dylan. We pray that you grant him good health so he will grow up strong and healthy. Grant him intelligence, diligence and perseverance so he will find learning a breeze and life a joy. Surround him with your angels and protect him from harm. Grant him a kind heart, wisdom, discernment and a strong sense of responsibility. Help him, dear Father, to be a filial and loving child. Most of all, Lord, help him to be God-fearing and love, trust and obey You with all his heart!

Yellow

By the time this post appears, I've been using this for over a week!

I have for a while been eyeing this silicone iPhone 4 cover. I even asked Petals to buy it for me when she was in Bangkok. Turned out it costs 1950 baht which is about SGD82! So no, she did not get me one.

(photo from Petals)

I figure this cover will give me a better grip since it is made of rubber. My other iPhone cover which is a hard case (It's called 'Spade' and yes I like to name my things) tends to slip out of my hand quite easily.

Another reason why I like this yellow multi-coloured striped case is it matches my yellow Stevie!

The best part really is that I got it from the local kate spade store for SGD59 after a discount. Since using concierge services to buy directly from kate spade in the USA will take weeks and the online stores are selling it at $78, I thought this was a steal. ;)

The inside of the cover says 'live colorfully'. Love it! :)

Jay and J

This is somewhat related to the last post.

If you don't already know, Jay Chou is also a sufferer of AS. According to some tabloid report, he once took 12 pain killers before the start of a concert. If that is true, my heart goes out to him. I have seen J in pain, I have seen J take an insane number of pain killers in desperation to numb the pain. I cannot however imagine J having to take on the stage and sing and dance like there is no tomorrow after popping all those meds. So yes, I feel for you, Jay Chou.

The NSAIDs may be effective but they also have side effects. Arcoxia which J takes in high dosage can cause heart failure apparently. We don't know what will happen in the future and it isn't that we don't care. But the pain is so excruciating that to live normally, J cannot do without it.

But Jay Chou is also one of the lucky few who got diagnosed early. We read somewhere that he was not enlisted with the army because of AS.

Seriously, I rather do national service than be plagued with this disease. Then again what am I talking about?? I have neither the disease nor the desire to serve the nation as a soldier!!

I have however acquired 4 of Jay's albums in a few days and am enjoying every bit of his music. :)

Current read

J has had this book since he was diagnosed with AS 6 years ago. I never got around to reading it properly because each time he has an AS attack, I am more concerned about his pain, his intake of pain killers and his therapy sessions.

Recently I picked up the book because I realised that hell, I know nuts about AS except I have a husband who has the damn disease! So yes, it was embarrassment that drove me to read it.

Now, I have model answers for people who quiz me no end on it.
  • Ankylosing Spondylitis is a chronic, progressive, painful inflammatory rheumatic disease, which affects the spinal joints, in particular those at the base of the spine.

  • AS typically affects young people, beginning between the ages of 15 and 30. The average age onset of the disease is 24 years, but it may range from 8-45.

  • AS usually starts with a chronic low back pain and stiffness which in gradual and insidious in onset. It can take a LONG time, on average about 6 years (for J, it was 10), before the correct diagnosis is made.

  • Over many years, AS can result in gradually progressive stiffness and limitations of spinal mobility and also restricted expansion of the chest. (J is already experiencing all these.)

  • There is no cure for AS but the symptoms of back pain and stiffness usually respond well to non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) and a regular program of physical exercise. (Oh yes, Arcoxia is J's best friend.)

Interestingly, the author, Dr. Muhammad Asim Khan, is a rheumatologist and also suffers from a severe form of AS.

Boxes

Just as we were about to fall asleep, he asked, 'How many more boxes are there going to be?'

I said, 'Huh?'

I hadn't a clue what he was talking about.

Now that I am wide awake and there is light in the room, I scrutinise the height of the boxes and the space between the display cabinet and the ceiling carefully. And I think my answer is 10.

There is space for another 10 kate spade boxes. ;)

Same subject, different look

I first learnt about this photography app called TiltShift Generator from an ex-classmate's blog. It's free and I love it! My photos don't turn out half as nice as his but it's still a pretty fun app to play with.

I love how the colours are so saturated. Here, I also used the app called Labelbox to add (what else?!) a label to the photo.

This second one was taken with LomoLomo. The photo has a very faded look and a forgotten feel to it. Which makes it quite appropriate actually because soon after these shots were taken, the Nespresso capsules were thrown away. They were past their expiration date. :(

I don't know which shot you like better. I kinda like them both! :)

A happy coincidence!

It suddenly occurred to me as I was unwrapping my latest kate spade purchase that the colours of the gift box match those of my iPhone cover!

You won't believe how these silly things make me laugh!

See?? ;)

Not that I'm ever going to carry the gift box together with my phone!

Guess what came in the post today?!

After waiting for 2 whole weeks, the parcel finally came!

Yes, it's kate spade!

*swoon*

A gift box can only mean it is a wallet of sort. :)

It's the Larabee Dot Neda!

I ordered this when it went on sale.

Polka-dot woven lining

How cute!

This is what it says on the care card. So not true for me. ;)

Tag reads: graciousness is to be admired.

Plus-sized

I don't know how much you love or loathe ironing but if ironing is one of your favourite pastimes, you may want to get this!

This ironing board is a real monster. It's easily 1.8m!

In case you have not figured out how huge this contraption is, let me tell you it comes with wheels because given its size, it is simply too heavy to be carried.

Seriously, you have to pay me to buy this!

Just pretty

Shady Side Magazine Tote

Kate Spade launched their new site a couple of day ago. I think it looks cheery and more hip! Anyway, I took a quick glance at the new arrivals for March and saw this! Love it!

This tote looks smaller than my Frosted Felt Tote but I cannot figure out the material that it's made of. Is it canvas? Linen? Both pink and yellow are lovely but if I were to get it, I think I'll go for pink! :)

Random thought of the day

Please don't celebrate mediocrity.

If I could say this aloud to you, I would.
But then, you would find me rude.
No?

Kawaii

I like pretty things and found this at a bookshop in Jurong Point. Isn't it sweet? ;)

Now my hello kitty ez-link card has a pretty case. :)

Nalgene

It has been quite a while since I carried a water bottle with me because the bottles don't fit into my kate spades. Actually I don't know why I need to carry a water bottle everywhere I go. It's just a habit formed over the 10 years I was teaching.

Now that I have my big ass Felt Tote, I realised I can throw in my Nalgene again!

Here's my new 1-litre purple Nalgene which I paid SGD9 for in Hong Kong last December. Seriously, it only cost me NINE dollars! Where to find in Singapore??

I love that it is so HUGE! And though you cannot tell from the picture, it really is a lovely purple. More like violet actually.
