This is what I read today

Growth and success occur at some risk. Taking foolish chances is not risk, but stupidity. Risk entails a good goal, a decent chance of achieving it, and a strong dose of trust. Risk is actually necessary if we want to grow in our relationship with God. When He calls you to do something out of your comfort zone, obey at the risk of failing, while trusting Him to help you complete what He has asked you to do.

Commit everything you do to the Lord.

This one is for a dear old friend. :)

I'm not sure if green is her thing but I love this! Am very tempted to get one for myself now. :)

Petals' purchase

also came in the parcel but after a whole week, it is still sitting in my room, waiting to be claimed!

Her Cobble Hill Serena in cream is really pretty and the soft leather smells heavenly. :)

It also has the book stripe lining but in gold and cream.

Now if only Petals and I can find a time between us and arrange for a meet-up before her handbag starts to turn yellow. :P

July's parcel

This parcel came a week earlier than expected.

Under normal circumstances, I would have been jolly pleased. But some issues on the work front got me a little vexed and I did not fully appreciate the joy of this purchase. And yes, this also explains the lack of posts recently.

Anyway back to the parcel, which of course is a kate spade box.

This really is a magical purple box because it contains not one, not two but four items!

First on the list, a new black leather wallet.

I love the envelope design!

Black and white book stripe lining, how lovely!

Tag says: have courage. Oh how I need that now.

Lychee fever

July spells only one thing to me - LYCHEES!

My father told me that for seasonal fruits like lychees, the beginning and end of the harvest yield poor fruits, and July is usually the best time to buy these fruits. Well, my dad is 80 and it's hard not to believe a man whose years of life experience and wisdom far exceed mine!

The lychees seen in the picture above amount to slightly less than one kg. I had to gobble 4 or 5 before I took this photo. Yes I am greedy this way! Anyway, a kg of these cost me $6. These lychees from China are hideously green but unbelievably sweet! If you have any intention of buying some, don't waste your money on the red ones from Thailand. I swear they are more sour than lemons.

The bags are full.

The feet are tired.

The wallet is empty.

The stomach is growling.

Time for a shopping snack.

Chicken caesar sandwich always hits the spot.

Complete with iced lemon tea and nutella cupcake, it spells yum!

Just how juicy?

I have always wanted to wear a silver bracelet but never found one I really like. Part of this fascination with the bracelet is the fact that J has always worn one and he looks really cool! Seriously before meeting him, I have not seen a man who can carry off jewellery so well. Rings, bracelets, earrings, you name it, he wears it!

Anyway, the other night I found Juicy.

Juicy Couture to be exact.

I thought the gift box looks like a cigarette box!

Gosh, it's nice to wear something with a label that says 'petite'!

Like Finally!

Been meaning to get a copy and finally did so yesterday at Kino. My favourite photo of the General Elections 2011, covered by these photojournalists, is on the last 2 pages.

'Thank You' by Jean Loo
The original photograph is not in black and white.

Smells like pineapple

DizzyLizzy got me this from DFS. Isn't she a gem? :)

So pretty the pink box and glass bottle, I think I love the packaging more than the scent! ;)

81st

Ah Ma celebrated her birthday recently. The buffet lunch at Ellenborough Market Cafe saw 34 people turn up. All are family!

J and I were horrid. We were the first to reach the hotel but the only ones who forgot to bring her a gift! So the very next day, we went to buy her this.

J tells me that Ah Ma does not wear any gold. She does not have any. Many many years ago, Ah Gong's business went bust and she pawned her precious jewellery (I heard her dowry included) to make ends meet.

This is a very tiny bracelet we got her, nothing compared to the glitter she used to possess. Nevertheless we hope it will bring her a little joy and some good memories.

Depressing thought of the day

My iPhone pictures seem better than the ones taken with Lily. :(
